Food For Thought: Ugly Mug

   Ugly Mug is a great Cafe on the Ave right at the heart of the University District. A nice environment that gives you a homebody feeling, it really takes you into a comfortable setting away from the fast pace of Seattle city life. While I was there I had a yummy pumpkin tomato soup. This soup was not only delicious but it had a perfect taste that really knows how to warm a belly, especially on a cold spring day!

Dismal Day for Andy Murray...

   Today, tennis player Andy Murray suffered another bruising defeat in the Sony Ericsson Open. Though he was not to long ago marked by tennis commentators as a player with commendable game play that could allow him to win Grand Slams, he still has yet to achieve such heights. Now a far flung number 5 player, Murray has since battled to reignite a flame that can bring spring in his game, which he bitterly lost after a defeat down under by Serbian Novak Djokovic during his quest for an Australian Open title.

   Murray's defeat today toppled another upsetting defeat which came from an American qualifier Alex Bogomolov Jr. in two sets: 6-1, 7-5. This is not the first upset the Scotsman has tasted, since last week he faced an upset by another young American player Donald Young. Though his slump is no doubt attributed to his repeated chances of a Grand Slam being chased away by tennis's greats, if Murray really wants to taste a win he needs to buckle down, play with aggression, and have an attitude to WIN.

   I cannot wait till June 2011 rolls around and I can finally say "Yup, I'm a UW Graduate Baby!" Not only am I super stoked but I'm ready to get the ball rollin to see what the future has in store for me. Though the game of the "Big World," seems daunting and scary, the unknown makes it even more exciting!!!

   All I want now, is for spring quarter to start and for the procrastination to take a back seat just for the next good 10 weeks or so, so at least I can bring my A game. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here, because this SENIORITIS is not boding well for my fitness or brain!!!

Food For Thought: I have a crush on Joey's desserts!

   Joey's is a great restaurant to go to if you want to chill with a group of good friends and indulge in nothing but deliciousness. My personal favorites have been the ahi tuna burger as well as their common special the lobster sandwich. Though I have no pictures to show these wonderful delights, I will take the liberty and put my favorite which is their lava cake partnered with nothing else but vanilla ice cream. Now let me tell you, this combination is nothing but extreme WOWNESS, so for all you food lovers check out Joey's I'm sure it will not fail to impress the heart of a food lover.  As usual I will share the link!

Food For Thought: Red Mango

   Now here is some food for thought! Nothing like relaxing and eating yummy frozen yogurt topped with some sliced strawberries. This is definitely a "GO TO," treat when you're looking for something to fill a sweet but healthy desire!

Food For Thought: 611 Supreme

   So recently, I had the opportunity to take a fun food adventure with my friends in a sweet place called: 611 Supreme. The restaurant is a quaint place that serves crepes filled with deliciousness. Though the price for a crepe was a about 8-10 dollars, which in my opinion were relatively small, they were worth the food venture. If you're looking for salmon, eggs, and ham within a crepe then I'd recommend popping in 611 Supreme. If you're looking to have a fruity crepe, the downside is that they only serve such fruity goodness during their brunches over the weekends. Nonetheless, it was a cute place that I think food lovers should check out! I'll go ahead and share the link!

  Today Indian Wells saw two finals in tennis that showed the dominant players of 2011. The two athletes who defined themselves as the ones to beat were Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark, who is the current number #1 on the women's side, and Novak Djokovic of Serbia, the current #2 on the men's tour. Both athletes showed their prowess in the court through their ability to react to their opponents serve as well as covering all aspects of the court, which more often than not saved them both in their tough three set matches. Now let's not discredit nor forget the difficulty their opponents gave, since both of their opponents showed competitiveness and power throughout the match. With respect to Caro's opponent Frechwoman Marian Bartoli, Bartoli used her unorthodox two handed groundstrokes to blast Caro off the court and take rhythm off Caro's forehand, which for awhile gave the Dane quite a test. Yet, what Bartoli lacked in comparison to the number 1 player in the latter stages of the third set, is that she lacked both speed and the tenacity to turn every shot into a winning shot. 
     With respects to the men's final, let's just say it was expected that Djoker would give Nadal a run for his money. With a 17-0 winning streak going into the final against Nadal, Djoker was touted by many sports analyst as the one to beat. Coming off a third consecutive win off of Federer, Djoker played Nadal like he was the number 1 player. Though Nadal was able to get the first set through good serves and tricky body serves, Nadal's serves let him down when they counted most in the second and third set. What Djoker showed in the match was definitive groundstrokes that were strong on the baseline, good defense, and most of all STRONG SERVES.
     Overall, Indian Wells did not disappoint with a week of good tennis and competitiveness. Wozniacki and Djoker made their mark on hard courts this week, but let's see if they can take their success and transition it to the next tourney in Miami.
